Brittany Schmidt, Speech-Language Pathologist

Brittany attended the University of Florida, where she earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is currently completing a second master’s degree in special education at the University of West Florida. She was inspired to pursue speech-language therapy by a family member who credited speech-language pathology with not only improving his speech, but also his self-esteem and ability to feel comfortable interacting with others.

As a student working at a behavioral clinic for children with developmental disorders, Brittany became interested in applied behavioral analysis (ABA), pursued ABA certification, and is now a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysis (BCABA). Brittany has experience providing speech-language therapy and ABA in clinic, school, and private-practice settings.

Brittany specializes in assistive and augmentative communication (AAC), and feels inspired working in pediatrics – a window of time when children have an opportunity to gain valuable skills. She is especially passionate about giving children and their families hope.
